“Ine-enjoy ko lang and just living my dream.”
King Archer Jeron Teng could not help but be reflective after leading the De La Salle University to their fourth win in as many games to start the UAAP Season 79 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Teng, who is eyeing a second UAAP gold medal in his final season, posted norms of 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and a steal in a spectacular week for the Green Archers.
For his efforts, the 22-year-old has become the second La Salle player to win the ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week after Cameroon’s Ben Mbala.
Teng, who came off the bench in La Salle’s last two games, tallied 13 points, five boards, two assists and two steals in La Salle’s emphatic 100-62 win over the University of Santo Tomas last Wednesday.
His best performance, however, came three days later against the National University, in a game dubbed as an early Finals preview.
The second-generation cager dropped eight of his 23 points in the payoff period to help give the Archers a hard-earned 75-66 win over the Bulldogs. He also had three assists and two rebounds in 28 minutes of action as La Salle remain the only unbeaten team in the league.
La Salle’s skipper, though, still believes that the Green Archers have a lot to improve on especially after the NU game.
“For us, a win is a win,” the UAAP Season 78 Mythical Five member shared. “We still have lots more to improve on, we’re happy we got this win.”
“We’ll improve from here.”
Teng earned the nod for the weekly honor over the following student-athletes:
