Perhaps no other team had a busier offseason than the Philips Gold Lady Slammers.
Ending the PSL Grand Prix with a last place finish, the team immediately pulled the trigger and acquired a bunch of collegiate standouts to spearhead Philips Gold’s campaign come the All-Filipino Conference.
Headlining the Lady Slammers’ recruitment class are the likes of, former La Salle standouts, Michele Gumabao and Melissa Gohing, University of the East mainstays, Leuseht Dawis and Shaya Adorador, National University regulars, Desiree Dadang and Myla Pablo and this year’s top overall pick Iris Tolenada from San Francisco State University.
“Maganda [ang draft picks ng team] at masaya kasi iyon naman ang gusto namin,” Philips Gold head coach Francis Vicente told Tiebreaker Times. “We got what we wanted. We got a setter in Tolenada and a middle blocker. Nakakuha din naman kami ng outside hitters na may kalidad.”
Philips Gold will make its PSL debut this Saturday, 4:30 pm, as they collide against the Petron Blaze Spikers.
