Maria Angelica Dungo turned heroine for Ateneo de Manila University, scoring the winning goal in a close contest with Azzurri as they welcomed only their second win in six matches.

Ateneo found itself leading first after Joyce Semacio was on the receiving end of a long pass from defender Patricia Francisco. Semacio effortlessly collected the ball and struck a near-post goal in the 24th minute.

Azzurri made sure the match was still within striking distance after team stalwart Hannah Muros leveled the match right before the halftime break.

Ateneo proved they were the more determined side after Kassandra Zalamea’s through-ball found Dungo for the winner in the 69th minute.

“Ang dami pang proseso na kailangan namin i-practice pa tapos chamba lang yung goal,” mused Semacio who was named Player of the Match.

University of Santo Tomas followed up on a big win against Ateneo with another massive win this time against Far Eastern University who were unbeaten for five matches.

UST handed FEU its first loss of the tournament on the back of an early goal from Lovely Fernandez. Nathalie Absalon eyed a prowling Fernandez in the wings and launched a perfect pass which the forward gathered while fending off defenders and an onrushing Liliana Artillo before netting an 8th-minute goal.

The Tamaraws tried to answer but Regine Rasonable was there to snuff out every attempt and was thus named Player of the Match.

“Super pinag-handaan namin yung FEU since wala pa silang talo. Buong-buo po namin pinanalo yung game na ‘to. Positive pa rin po, manalo man or matalo siyempre andun pa rin yung puso namin na gusto namin manalo and lumaban,” said the keeper.
