Bolstered by an unbeaten streak, the Petro Gazz Angels fended off the win-hungry Bali Pure Purest Water Defenders in a tight three-set affair, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18, in the PVL Reinforced Conference Season 3, Sunday afternoon at the Imus Sports Complex in Cavite.
The Angels, who already secured their spot in the semifinals after Creamline made swift work of BanKo in Iloilo, continued to hold a pristine slate, improving to a 7-0 card. Moreover, they kept the struggling Water Defenders winless after six games.
After an opening-day upset, league-leader Petro Gazz will try to duplicate their first round success versus second-seeded Creamline on June 22, Saturday. Skidding Bali Pure, meanwhile, still seeks their first win, this time against PacificTown-Army on Wednesday, June 19. Both games will be played at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
