Petro Gazz has tapped American outside hitter Gia Day as its lone import for the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League.
Day, a 6-foot-2 spiker, brings with her a wealth of international experience, having played professionally in France, Puerto Rico, Italy, Indonesia, and South Korea.
Most recently, she competed in the Athletes Unlimited Pro League and the League One Volleyball (LOVB) in the United States.
She will serve as the Angels’ sole reinforcement, as regular stars Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips remain committed to their duties with USA Volleyball.
Riding high after ending Creamline’s long-standing reign in the Premier Volleyball League with a breakthrough championship in the six-month-long 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference, Petro Gazz is now set to compete in Pool B. The pool includes Kaohsiung Taipower of Taiwan and Hip Hing of Hong Kong.
The Angels will open their campaign against the Taiwanese squad on Monday, followed by a clash with the Hong Kong team on Tuesday. All matches will be held at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals.
