PBA postpones Sunday games, 3×3 third leg due to Karding

The Philippine Basketball Association has decided to postpone Sunday’s Commissioner’s Cup double-header scheduled at the Mall of Asia Arena due to Super Typhoon Karding.

Meralco was supposed to meet NLEX while Ginebra was set to face Converge. Both matches will be rescheduled to a later date.

Both the FiberXers and the Road Warriors are gunning to go 2-0 after opening their campaigns triumphantly last Friday. The former scored a 124-110 rout of Terrafirma in Aldin Ayo’s debut, while the latter beat Rain or Shine, 96-90.

The postponement stalled what could’ve been the conference debuts of the Bolts and the Kings, two of the favorites in this mid-season conference.

It could’ve also been the debuts of Jamie Malonzo and Von Pessumal for the crowd darlings, who are to be reinforced by Justin Brownlee again.

Meralco, on the other hand, was supposed to parade import Johnny O’Bryant III with an aim to make some noise in the tilt featuring 6-foot-10 reinforcements.

This is the first time that the league called off games due to inclement weather since the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.

Also postponed by the league is Leg 3 of the PBA 3×3 scheduled on Monday and Tuesday at the Robinsons Place Antipolo.

TNT and Cavitex won the first two legs of the low-level domestic league, respectively.

The second game of each PBA gameday is live-streamed on SMART Sports.
