PBA: Phoenix successfully holds off Meralco, completes semis cast

Phoenix Super LPG showed how much it learned the last time out by overcoming Meralco, 88-84, to complete the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup semifinal picture, Sunday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Ken Tuffin, Jason Perkins, and Johnathan Williams delivered the needed endgame stability to help the Fuel Masters ward off the Bolts, which gave another major scare after being down by as much as 18 points in the third.

Now they head into their first semis trip since the 2020 Philippine Cup bubble to face Magnolia in a best-of-five series beginning Wednesday.

Williams led Phoenix with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Perkins supplied 19 points and 13 rebounds while Tuffin chipped in 10 markers.
