A fistfight among a handful of San Miguel players took place during the Beermen’s practice at the Upper Deck Sports Center on Sunday, according to a report by Spin.ph.
The report said that involved in the scuffle were Kelly Nabong, Dez Wells, Arwind Santos, and Ronald Tubid — a scuffle which occurred on the 30th birthday of star center June Mar Fajardo.
The report said that the fiasco started when Wells came to Santos after a hard screen that sent him to the floor. Tubid came to the defense of Santos, while Nabong backed Wells.
The news has already reached the PBA office. League commissioner Willie Marcial said that he is now looking at the possibility of imposing sanctions against those players part of the fracas.
“Titignan natin kung may video. Kung meron, tsaka tayo magdedesisyon,” said the amiable executive Sunday afternoon.
The Beermen are in the midst of a long break before returning to action on Wednesday, November 20, when they take on the skidding TNT KaTropa at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
A win over its long-time rivals will help San Miguel climb up the standings at fourth and clinch a twice-to-beat edge for the quarterfinals, while sending the once-leading TNT down to fifth.
Should that happen, SMB and TNT will then meet each other again in the quarters that starts later this week.
