Converge has finally found its replacement for Mav Ahanmisi in Deschon Winston.
Winston will be tasked with filling the shoes left by Ahanmisi after being selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft by the FiberXers on Sunday at Market! Market! in Taguig.
Winston, a 6-foot-4 guard, played for two years at De La Salle University.
In his final year, he averaged 21.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.0 steals before going down with an injury.
He also previously played at Central Michigan.
Winston is also eligible to play for Gilas Pilipinas.
Meanwhile, BJ Andrade still ended up as a first round pick.
The heady 6-foot guard out of Ateneo de Manila University was selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft by Converge.
Promising is Andrade as he was the lead shooting guard of the Blue Eagles during its championship run back in UAAP Season 85.
He put up numbers of 9.06 points, 2.61 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in his senior year.
However, on February 21, 2023, Andrade tore his left ACL during a game pitting Pampanga Royce Hotel and Davao Occidental-Cocolife in the Pilipinas Super League.
Andrade is set to make a full recovery come January.
