PBA approves Vic Manuel to NorthPort trade

Vic Manuel is set for a homecoming.

The Philippine Basketball Association has approved the trade sending Vic Manuel to NorthPort on Friday.

Manuel, who was the ninth overall pick in the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft, played his freshman year in the big league with the then-Globalport team.

In exchange, Phoenix Super LPG, who also sent Michael Calisaan to the Batang Pier, will receive Sean Anthony, Sean Manganti, and a future second round pick.

Manuel only played 11 games for Phoenix Super LPG during the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, averaging 12.82 points, 5.27 rebounds, and 1.45 assists per game.

Calisaan, on the other hand, was picked up as a free agent by Phoenix Super LPG during the off-season, playing nine games there.

Anthony, an 11-year veteran, was hampered by an injury during the Philippine Cup. The 2019 PBA Defensive Player of the Year put up 10.63 points, 6.75 rebounds, 2.13 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest.

Anthony will be playing in his seventh team.

Finally, Manganti was put in NorthPort’s 3×3 team to start the year.
