PBA 3×3: Uratex dominates double-header, inches closer to perfect sweep

Uratex Dream took care of business in its double-header assignment on Monday, moving one win away from a sweep of the elimination round in the PBA 3×3 Women’s Invitational at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

Sustaining their momentum from last week’s opening skirmishes, the Dream showcased their class against Gilas Pilipinas A, winning 21-19, and Gilas Pilipinas B, winning 20-16, securing a 4-0 record.

Samantha Harada broke a 19-19 standoff with Gilas A with a short-range bucket, and Kaye Pingol sealed the victory from the stripe as Uratex followed up on its initial victories over Angelis Resort (20-15) and Philippine Air Force (19-16) from the previous week.

Not stopping there, the Dream added Gilas’ B squad to their list of victims shortly after, with Eunique Chan, Harada, and Pingol as anchors.

The pacesetters can achieve a perfect mark heading into the next round if they secure win No. 5 against Philippine Navy-Go For Gold on the last day of eliminations on Monday.

The Lady Sailors also triumphed in their two assignments of the day, winning 19-16 over Angelis Resort and 21-13 over PAF, bringing their overall record to 3-0, including their 14-10 win over Gilas A last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Gilas A broke into the win column after a 0-3 start by defeating Air Force 16-8.

Hostilities continue next Monday with the six teams vying for tickets to the crossover semifinals, reserved for the Top 4 at the end of the three-week elimination round.
