PBA 3×3: Limitless outlasts Northport in OT to enter QF unscathed

Limitless App survived NorthPort in overtime, 21-19, to enter the PBA 3×3 Second Conference Leg 3 quarterfinals unscathed, Sunday at SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Reymar Caduyac came through for the needed two points in the extra period, sinking a free throw off a Batang Pier technical foul before cleaning up his own miss as the Appmasters secured the top seed in Pool C at 3-0.

The stocky guard finished with six points and nine rebounds. Brandon Rosser and Jorey Napoles scored six each as well, while Marvin Hayes added three.

Joshua Webb led NorthPort with nine points, as LA Revilla added eight markers in yet another winless campaign for the crew with a 0-3 card.

Limitless, the league’s reigning reigning grand champions, will take on the second seed of Pool B in San Miguel Beer in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Meralco is also headed into the next round as the top team of Pool B despite bowing to Purefoods earlier in overtime, 15-17.

The Bolts managed to remain the no. 1 team in the said group thanks to their wins over Ginebra and CAVITEX in Day 1 of the hostilities.

Consistent playoff contenders, the MVP Group-owned ball club will battle Sista, the second-ranked team in Pool C, later in the quarters.

The other QF bracket will see the Braves take on Terrafirma, who along with SMB benefitted from Platinum Karaoke’s shock loss to Master Sardines.

Both the Beermen and the Dyip carry identical 2-2 records, but the former emerged as the second seed in Pool A as they defeated the latter in the first day’s opening salvo by way of a 19-18 OT decision.

Ultimately, no. 1 team TNT is on a collision course with Pioneer ProTibay, who booted Ginebra out 18-13 in the knockout for the last playoff spot.

Christian Rivera had five points, four rebounds, and three assists as the guest squad deployed a balanced attack to down the Gin Kings, who were missing Encho Serrano and Jayson David due to injuries sustained in Leg 2.

Those new recruits were big reasons behind the Barangay’s podium finishes in the last two stops, including a runner-up finish in the last leg.
