Paneng Mercado announces pregnancy on Mothers Day


Five months after getting married, Paneng Mercado and husband David De Koenigswarter are set to welcome a new member to their family. 

The 30-year-old spiker, who plays for Petro Gazz, announced on Instagram that she is pregnant.

“A grand adventure is about to begin.

“We are so excited to welcome our bundle of joy in a few months; something that puts light into the dark times,” the daughter of Lydia De Vega said in her post.

The volleyball community rejoiced, expressing their congratulations to the newly-wed couple. Players like Kim Dy, Michele Gumabao, Melissa Gohing, Tine Tiamzon, Des Cheng, and Rhea Dimaculangan all commented on Mercado’s post.

The one-time PVL champion shared that she hopes that just like her, everyone finds their inspiration, especially in this crisis.
