Palmera-Dy flirts with triple-double as Glutagence surge past Quezon in WNBL


Glutagence cruised to its second win in the Pia Cayetano WNBL Season 2021, after stomping Quezon, 75-60, Saturday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

The Glow Boosters dominated the fourth and outscored the Lady SparTAN, 26-6, in the fourth quarter to take a 2-0 win-loss record and the early lead in the standings.

Raiza Palmera-Dy once again led the Glow Boosters as she finished with 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. She also shot 8-of-15 from the field that included three three-point baskets and Glutagence erased a 54-49 disadvantage entering the final period of play.

Micah Figuracion, Khate Castillo, and Carol Sangalang also combined forces in that fourth quarter blast for the Glow Boosters.

With Glutagence down four, 58-54, Dy began a 21-0 run, with back-to-back baskets by Sangalang putting the Glow Boosters ahead.

Castillo made two straight threes and Figuracion followed with a twinner as Glutagence tasted a double-digit lead, 68-58. Palmera-Dy buried another three with 24 seconds left in the game and the Glow Boosters leading, 75-58.

Figuracion had 13 points and Castillo had 12 points, and the two totaled seven triples in the game. Sangalang had eight points, eight rebounds, and four assists for the winners.

Kristine Duran made 12 points and Dianne Ventura had nine points for Quezon.

Action continues on Sunday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center with the Parañaque Lady Aces facing Pacific Water Queens at 1 p.m. to be held under strict health and safety protocols with no audience.
