NLEX exited the PBA Governors Cup following a tough 112-93 loss in Game Four of the semifinals against Ginebra on Wednesday evening.
It wasn’t the type of finish the Road Warriors had hoped for after ending the eliminations with an 8-3 record, tied for their best elims finish in franchise history.
At the other side of the world, KJ McDaniels had a night to remember. He welcomed a new member to his family.
The former NLEX import paid tribute to his partner Brittney Bryson in an Instagram story. He also shared a picture of their newborn daughter.
“You just gave me one of the greatest gifts and blessings I could ever ask for along with you!! Welcome home baby girl!!” said McDaniels.
It was then followed by another post expressing his appreciation to the NLEX franchise after their impressive PBA campaign.
Despite being in the middle of the conference, NLEX allowed McDaniels to leave the team and be with Bryson.
“From start to finish, I enjoyed the moments in practice, in games, and off the court with these guys on @arangkadanlex!! I appreciate all of the coaches and management for having me and understanding me having to depart because of family matters.”
He then followed it up by asking if they would want to run it back next year.
“If you will, let’s get another run at it.”
The 32nd overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists. He also had 2.8 blocks and 1.6 steals while shooting 49-percent from the field in his 11 games with NLEX.
In his farewell game, McDaniels finished with 26 points and 10 boards, beating Ginebra, 115-103.
And definitely, NLEX missed him during the semis.
