The search for the next Far Eastern University head coach is set to begin.
Olsen Racela has stepped down as head coach of the Tamaraws, the school announced on Thursday.
According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Racela “had already informed” FEU about his decision as early as the first week of December.
“We thank Coach Olsen for guiding our Tamaraws with class and for always instilling the proper values,” read the school’s post.
Olsen took over brother Nash in 2017.
He compiled a 37-39 record, making it to the Final Four in his first four years.
In UAAP Season 85 however, the Tamaraws missed the Final Four for the first time in nine seasons, finishing seventh with a 5-9 slate.
FEU entered the season without lead gunner RJ Abarrientos as he decided to turn pro after signing with Ulsan Hyundai.
With Olsen’s departure, there are five Tamaraws who are thinking of leaving the school, namely Cholo Anonuevo, L-Jay Gonzales, Patrick Sleat, Xyrus Torres, and Patrick T’chuente.
The school is still talking to the quintet, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.
