Olsen Racela, Perpetual come to terms

Olsen Racela officially inked his contract as the new head coach of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Thursday at the school’s board room in Las Piñas City.

Anton Tamayo, the team manager of the Altas, warmly welcomed Racela, marking the latest strategic move by the school as they gear up for Season 100 in September 2024.

“The initial step I’ll take is to meet with the coaching staff, including Coach Myk Saguiguit and Coach Joph Cleopas, before we engage with the players,” shared Racela.

“Our goal is to commence training on Monday as the players begin returning from their break,” Racela added.

Scottie Thompson was present to offer his assistance and share his valuable experiences as a former league MVP.

“There’s a lot to impart to these young players,” Racela emphasized.

In the previous NCAA Season 99, the Altas fell just short of securing a spot in the Final Four. They concluded their campaign with a record of 10 wins and 8 losses in the double round.

The season was ultimately won by the San Beda Red Lions.

“It’s a new chapter, and Coach Olsen and Coach Myk’s partnership holds promise for the upcoming season. There’s much more in store for Perpetual; they have a bright future to anticipate,” commented Thompson.

As the Altas resumed practice with a lineup unchanged from the previous season, featuring Mark Denver Omega, Nath Sevilla, Christina Pagaran, Cyrus Nitura, Arthur Roque II, Carlo Ferreras, John Abis, Rey Barcuma, John Paul Boral, Angelo Gelsano, Richard Movida, Jearico Nuñez, Shawn Orgo, Bryle Mascariñas, and Justin Thompson.
