NU’s Aquino makes season debut


Transferee Matthew Aquino made his UAAP Season 79 debut, and his National University debut, on Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs faced the league-leading De La Salle University Green Archers.

Aquino, 19, had been declared ineligible by the UAAP board last Sunday, September 11. However, according to a source closely monitoring the situation, the officials of National University, specifically the team’s officials, have filed and have been granted a temporary restraining order (TRO) that is effective for 72 hours.

The 6’9 stretch big man checked into the game with 1:50 remaining in the first quarter as a substitute for Cameroonian student-athlete Alfred Aroga.

League commissioner Rebo Saquisag did not comment on the matter when asked.
