NU podium hopes looking slim with an upset loss against FEU

In a sudden turn of events, the National University Bulldogs were upset by the FEU Tamaraws.

Ariel Bacud closed out his UAAP Season 77 campaign with a perfect run. In his last UAAP Season 77 performance, Bacud outpointed Alfred Avila 13-11 to hold his perfect record. Diether Baylon tied the series 1-1 with a 6-3 win over Raphael Martinez. Kristian Tagarao kept Jefferson Piopongco winless with an 11-6 win. In the featherweight bout, Elijah Marcelino gave FEU a comfortable3-1 FEU lead with an 18-9 win over Aljon Ortonio. With the series in the balance and needing to win all the matches remaining, Dave Cea defeated John Lloyd Sanchez by scoring the golden point in the sudden death round. Arven Alcantara kept his own immaculate record with a dominant 18-6 win via 2nd round stoppage over Jayson Samson. With the series tied at 3-all, Ivan Norombaba outmuscled Erickson Silvestre with an 8-1 win to give FEU the win.

With this loss, the NU Bulldogs have to rely on a DLSU loss to gain the bronze medal in the tournament. They are now in solo 4th place but a Green Jin-loss would guarantee them 3rd place by virtue of their win over DLSU during Day 2.
