Norman Miguel was nowhere to be found during National University’s first game in the 2024 V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday afternoon.
It turns out that the veteran mentor had stepped down from his post as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs.
According to a report by Inquirer.net and confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Miguel has resigned from the school, citing personal growth.
“Career move for me, admin work for sports, and at the same time, I can still share my little expertise in volleyball,” he told Inquirer.
“Challenging siya pero medyo less ang stress level. Looking forward pa rin na makapasa ako sa application ko.”
Miguel made his return to NU early last year after Karl Dimaculangan slid down to a deputy position.
Under his watch, Miguel steered the Lady Bulldogs to a golden run in UAAP Season 86.
Miguel guided NU to a 12-2 finish in the elims before knocking off FEU and UST in the playoffs.
Dimaculangan is taking over as interim head coach of the Lady Bulldogs.
Whoever the next head coach of NU will be, he will inherit a full lineup led by seniors Alyssa Solomon, Bella Belen, and Sheena Toring.
The NU bench is also deep with upstarts Arah Panique, Kaye Bombita, and Celine Marsh waiting in the wings.
