Nordic Atlantic/Hexolutions Batch 2005 ruled the 2025 Xavier Alumni Basketball League’s Fr. Moran B (Division 4) bracket after outlasting 3R Metal Craft Batch 2021, 55-48, on Sunday at Xavier School in San Juan.
It was a strong bounce-back season for Batch 2005, which finished with a 5-4 record last year, as they now aim for promotion to Division 3 next season.
After a slow start, burly big man Marwin Malaki sparked the Nordic Atlantic/Hexolutions offense, scoring eight of the team’s 16 second-quarter points to give them a 25-24 halftime lead.
Malaki finished with 10 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting clip and posted a plus-16 efficiency, earning Finals MVP honors.
Batch 2005—also supported by Atlanta Industries and Frankie’s New York Buffalo Wings—continued to surge in the third quarter, with George Cantor, Nate Go, and TJ Lim spearheading the attack while locking down Batch 2021, limiting them to just eight points.
Their lead would grow to as many as 13 early in the fourth quarter.
Cantor led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Go added 14 points and seven rebounds. Lim chipped in six points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Also part of Batch 2005’s lineup are Josef Cochien, Aldo Tong, David Chan, Eduardo Firmalo, Adrian Yap, Prince Ngo, John Paul Co, Francis Tong, Phil Young, Wilson Co, Kevin Siy, and Stephen Uy, along with Karl Lim, Oliver Oliva, and Dustin Ng.
The team was coached by Paolo Layug and CK Chua.
Nordic Atlantic/Hexolutions Batch 2005 concluded the elimination round with an 8-1 record, their lone loss coming against 2006 Viper on September 7.
Batch 2005 then escaped 2006 Zhoosh La Pacita EZ Realty, 47-46, in the semifinals to reach the title match.
