A gigantic wrench was thrown into the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses’ Season 80 campaign as starting open hitter Ej Laure will not suit up for the entire campaign.
According to a report by The Volleyball Reporter’s Mac Dionisio, the incoming senior will be recovering from a chronic shoulder injury next year.
The 5-foot-9 spiker, a top 10 scorer in the UAAP for the past two seasons, will most likely be replaced in the starting lineup by third year winger Carla Sandoval.
The Golden Tigresses were already without middle blocker Ria Meneses, who opted to forego her final playing year at the end of Season 79.
Laure’s absence also leaves the field open for other Final Four aspirants University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, National University Lady Bulldogs, and Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws to make a leap.
