No break for Ralph Cu, Chris Koon, Jerrick Ahanmisi as PBA trio lead Gilas 3×3 in Asia Cup

Gilas Pilipinas Men and Women are ready to make the ultimate sacrifice next week as they head to Singapore to represent the country in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026.

Even with the PBA on break for Holy Week, Ginebra’s Ralph Cu, Magnolia’s Chris Koon, and Terrafirma’s Jerrick Ahanmisi will compete in the continental showpiece.

They will be joined by University of the Philippines 6-foot-9 big man Sean Alter.

All four players bring 3×3 experience from the UAAP: Cu won silver in Season 84, Koon was part of Ateneo that same season, Ahanmisi led Adamson in Season 81, and Alter had a standout campaign in last season’s tournament.

Gilas Men, coached by Kirk Collier and Patrick Fran, are in Qualifying Draw A alongside Maldives and Thailand, with games scheduled for April 2.

If they advance, the Filipino quartet will be grouped in Pool A with Mongolia and Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, Gilas Women, seeded fifth, are composed of Afril Bernardino, Mikka Cacho, Kacey dela Rosa, and Cheska Apag.

The team trained by Anton Altamirano will await the winner of Qualifying Draw D, which features Tonga, Macau, and Maldives. Also seeded in Pool D is Australia.

Last year, Gilas Men finished 15th, while the Women claimed fourth place.
