NLEX has brought in DeQuan Jones as its new import for the remainder of the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup, replacing Myke Henry.
Jones will make his Road Warriors debut on September 17 when NLEX faces the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Henry, who averaged 25.85 points and 8.14 rebounds over seven games, helped keep NLEX competitive but with a 3-4 record in Group B, the team is looking to Jones to provide an added spark for a playoff push.
NLEX head coach Jong Uichico is optimistic about the impact of the veteran scorer.
“With DeQuan, we gain an experienced player who has played all over the world. He will help us rally and secure a spot in the playoffs,” Uichico said.
Jones, who went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, managed to carve out a stint with the Orlando Magic during the 2012-13 season.
He later starred in the G League for the Reno Bighorns and Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
In 2018, he earned the G League’s Most Improved Player award and also won the Slam Dunk title.
Beyond the G League, Jones has had an extensive international career, playing in top leagues in Italy, Japan, France, and Israel.
Most recently, he suited up for Shiga in Japan’s B. League, where he shared the court with former NLEX star Kiefer Ravena.
