Nexplay EVOS mounted a crazy Game One comeback to power its 2-0 sweep of ECHO in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Friday evening.
The win, which saw Renejay “RENEJAY” Barcarse slide to the experience lane, ended Nexplay EVOS’ four-game losing streak, moving up to the fifth spot with 14 points through a 4-6 win-loss standing.
ECHO flat out dominated the early goings of Game One, giving Nexplay EVOS little to no room to farm which put them ahead by as much as 5k ahead in the gold department.
Nexplay EVOS, however, through its bruising two-tank composition, managed to hold the fort for Jhonwin “Hesa” Vergara’s Lunox to scale in the late game.
Still, ECHO was poised to bag Game One after securing a crucial Luminous Lord take in the 28:07-minute mark. That, until Hesa turned things around with a kill on Rion “Rk3” Kudo (Selena), Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales (Kagura), and Mark “Hadess” Lazaro (Hayabusa).
Nexplay EVOS went on for the death push after securing a four-man wipe. Hesa took the SMART 5G MVP honor in Game One with six kills, two deaths, and three assists in 29 minutes and 43 seconds of action – the longest match this season.
“Alam po namin [na kaya] namin gawa pong pang late game [yung mga heroes] namin,” said Hesa after the win.
During Game Two, Nexplay EVOS had a field day with John Paul “H2wo” Salonga and Hesa (Claude) leading the 11-8 victory.
A pickoff on Kurt “KurTzy” Matira’s Ruby prior to the 12-minute mark allowed Nexplay EVOS to secure the Luminous Lord which tipped the favor to their side.
RENEJAY took the SMART 5G MVP with two kills, three deaths, and four assists in the Game Two win which lasted for 17 minutes and 39 seconds.
ECHO remained tied with RSG PH (7-4) with 16 points off a 5-7 standing.
Nexplay EVOS looks to make it two in a row against the league-leading Blacklist International tomorrow, Saturday at 2:00 PM while ECHO will take on the skidding Omega Esports later in the day at 8:00 PM.
