One of the two top prospects outside of the top two collegiate leagues has committed to De La Salle University.
Athletic forward Jake Gaspay has transferred from Immaculada Concepcion College to La Salle.
Green Archers head coach Topex Robinson confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times, noting that it was their Olongapo roots that helped make Gaspay’s decision much easier.
Gaspay made his Green Archers debut on Sunday when they took on Ateneo de Manila University in the 2023 Pinoyliga Collegiate Cup.
The 6-foot-4 winger has been making waves since 2021.
During the 2022 Filbasket Summer Championship, Gaspay put up norms of 13.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists against pro teams.
He recently led the Blue Hawks to the top of the 2023 NCRAA Championship while also being named tournament part of the Mythical Team.
Gaspay, 21, will have to sitout one year before being eligible for UAAP Season 87. He will still have three years of eligibility left.
