Joshua Mina powers Generals; Nat Bunsuan stars for Stags


The Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals picked up their first win in dramatic fashion while the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags rolled to a debut win in the NCAA Season 94 Men’s Volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Winger Joshua Mina pounded in 25 points to vault the Generals over the Colegio San Juan de Letran Knights, 25-12, 23-25, 25-13, 16-25, 15-9.

Mina gathered his points from 22 spikes, two blocks and an ace. He also scored four times in the make-or-break fifth set. Joshua Ramilo paced the Generals with 11 markers.

Christopher Cinzina and Angel Canzana towed the Generals with 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Knights failed to capitalize on EAC’s 41 errors as they cough up 34 themselves.

In the earlier match, Nathalian Bunsuan poured in 16 points to guide thr Stags past the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, 25-18, 25-19, 14-25, 25-17.

Timothy Eusebio added 13 points for the debuting Stags while Kinoe Sanchez added 11.

Sinmart Soporna was the lone Pirate in double digits with 13 points. Lyceum got most of its offense from the Stags’ 36 errors, but struggled any points from their own skill.
