Bolick, Doliguez complete San Beda incursion of Perpetual

The San Beda College Red Lions relied on Robert Bolick and Clint Doliguez in the fourth quarter to complete a raid of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas, 57-53, Thursday afternoon.

“I will not argue with the credit to my boys, they really played well today,” said San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez. “Again, I salute Perpetual, the team, the coaching staff, they did a really good job in preparing for us.”

The win lifted the Red Lions to just a half a game behind the Lyceum Pirates with a 7-1 record. Perpetual, on the other hand, fell to 3-5.

Doliguez wound up with a team-best 11 points and eight rebounds, while Bolick finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists that more than made up for the season-worst eight turnovers he committed.

“That’s what I always said. Clint always steps up. I’m happy with the way he’s playing right now. I hope he will be consistent,” Fernandez added.

Bolick hit the two free throws that put the game away, while Doliguez drained the booming triple that gave the Red Lions the lead for good.

The Altas seized a 53-52 edge after Pido drove past two defenders for a fastbreak layup with over a minute to go.

It was to be Perpetual’s last stand, as they couldn’t score from there, while Doliguez and Bolick hammered the final nail into the coffin.

“Even if it’s an ugly win, I’ll take that,” Fernandez added.

Prince Eze had 11 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocks, but he misfired a couple of free throws late that hastened the Altas’ downfall and fell to 3-5 (win-loss).
