Taneo brothers, Lyceum remain spotless


After an opening day that saw four teams knotted at the top spot, the University of Perpetual Help Altas and the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates were able to break away from the pack in the ongoing NCAA Season 92 Men’s Beach Volleyball tournament held at the sands of the Subic Park Hotel in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Looking as sharp as ever, Rey and Relan Taneo once again accomplished another productive day for the Altas. The Taneo brothers grabbed a convincing 21-9, 21-8 win over Ronaldo Dampitan and Jethro Ferwelo of the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers and a hard-fought 21-17, 21-18 win over Mark Deximo and Owen Bacani of the College of Saint Benilde Blazers. Moreover, they outgunned Joshua Mina and Paolo Lim of the EAC Generals in a highly competitive three-set duel, 18-21, 21-15, 17-15.

On the other hand, Joeward Presnede and Jhonel Badua of Lyceum also continued their hot start. The tandem scored a major victory to open the day dispatching the EAC Generals in straight sets, 21-14, 21-14, and followed it up with a 21-10, 21-14. Lastly, they ended the day with a 21-13, 21-17 win over the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags.

The third day of this tournament shall resume at 7 o’clock in the morning, Friday.
