The NCAA has postponed the Seniors Basketball Group A matchup between José Rizal University and San Beda University due to unsafe playing conditions caused by condensation on the court.
With 5:25 remaining in the opening period, play was halted after condensation made the playing surface unsafe. The stoppage lasted nearly an hour before the NCAA decided to postpone the contest.
Before the suspension, the Heavy Bombers had taken a 9-3 lead. Zed Etulle opened the game with a triple before JRU took control, with Lawrence Mangubat and Chris Hubilla leading the charge.
The NCAA Management Committee will announce the new date for the resumption of the JRU-San Beda game at a later time. It also announced that tickets purchased for Friday’s game will remain valid for the rescheduled contest.
The same issue occurred during the Juniors Basketball matchup between Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Sebastian College-Recoletos, with play halted with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter due to condensation. The game resumed after a 30-minute stoppage.
Meanwhile, the second game between Letran and San Sebastian will proceed as scheduled.
