NBL: Sotto a DNP in second half as Adelaide escapes Sydney

Has Kai Sotto fallen out of CJ Bruton’s rotation?

The 7-foot-3 Filipino only played three minutes and 12 seconds in Adelaide’s 92-88 escape of Sydney in the 2022-23 National Basketball League season, Friday at Qudos Bank Arena.

Sotto, who did not play in the second half, only had a block to his name in the contest.

Still, the 36ers were able to eke out their second win in three games.

Down 83-84 with 3:35 remaining, Daniel Johnson was fouled by Tim Soares while he was attempting a three-pointer.

Johnson made two of three to give his side the lead before Craig Randall followed it up with a three-point bomb of his own.

Free throws by Antonius Cleveland and Mitch Mccarron sealed the win for the 36ers.

Randall led Adelaide with 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists while Johnson added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Both Cleveland and McCarron scored 15 apiece as well.

The Kings, who fell to 4-2, were led by Derrick Walton Jr, who got 23 points and six assists. Dejan Vasiljevic added 15 markers.

Up next for Adelaide is New Zealand on Friday.
