When the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas added Jordan Clarkson to the 12-man lineup for the 2018 Asian Games, the federation needed to clear two hurdles. There was getting the clearing from the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee and the National Basketball Association.
As early as an hour after the announcement of the Final 12 Friday evening, there were reports that surfaced saying that INASGOC has cleared the Filipino-American for the continental meet.
The NBA though did not clear the 26-year-old to join Gilas Pilipinas, sources told Tiebreaker Times.
The development was first reported by Charmie Lising of ESPN5.
The SBP is making an appeal to release him for the quadrennial meet.
If the appeal is not granted, Don Trollano will be the one completing the Final 12 for Gilas. They are set to fly out to Indonesia on Sunday, August 12.
