In a sudden change of heart, Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson was cleared by the National Basketball Association to play in the 2018 Asian Games, Tuesday afternoon.
The development was confirmed by numerous reports citing chef de mission Richard Gomez.
This comes after numerous Filipino officials expressed their disappointment over the NBA for not clearing Clarkson even if the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee and the Cleveland Cavaliers had already given him the greenlight.
However, it will be a mad dash for the Philippine Olympic Committee to get clearance once again from INASGOC. But according to Gerry Ramos of SPIN.ph, the Indonesian federation was quick to approve Jordan Clarkson’s re-entry.
Don Trollano was slotted in as the 12th member of the Philippine Men’s National Basketball Team.
According to reports, the 26-year-old Filipino-American will take the first flight out of Los Angeles, California. Moreover, he will immediately suit up with Gilas once he arrives.
Gilas Pilipinas is set to open its Asiad campaign in Jakarta, Indonesia on Thursday.
