After a disappointing end to Letran’s NCAA Season 92 campaign, current Letran Knight senior Rey Nambatac has decided to return for his fifth and final year of eligibility to Muralla Street. However, he shared that he had pondered long and hard before deciding to do so.
“Ang plano ko sana, kung nakaisa pang championship ngayon, balak ko nang magpa-draft,” the 22 year old said. “Lalaruin ko na final year ko. Decided na ako kasi ilang months ko na ring pinag-isipan.”
“Hindi na magbabago isip ko.”
The Cagayan de Oro-native reflected that Letran’s back-to-back championship bid was both trying and painful. But he needed to look at just the positives of this obstacle.
“Ganun talaga. Masakit, pero kailangang positive lang,” Nambatac, who averaged to 20.9 points – including a season-high 40 points last July 19 against the San Sebastian Stags – to go along with 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 steals, reflected.
With 25 Knights in the school’s basketball team, the shooting guard plans to enter the same screening first year head coach Jeff Napa will hold.
“Kahit ako, hindi rin sure makukuha next year, pero pag-iigihan ko talaga,” he vowed.
“Maglalaro ako sa mga liga na makukuha ko kumpiyansa ko. Susubok din sa Gilas kung pwede.”
