After five long years, Myla Pablo returned to the top of the Premier Volleyball League.
Pablo hoisted the championship trophy once again on Tuesday night after helping Petro Gazz clinch their second consecutive Reinforced Conference title. They swept Cignal in the title series at the Philsports Complex.
“Sobrang happy kasi na-maintain namin ‘yung back-to-back championship.
“And then syempre, grabe din ‘yung sacrifice ng team namin. And then sabi nga namin, last push na lang, and ibigay namin ‘yung best namin hanggang makakaya namin,” the 29-year-old spiker from Tarlac said.
This is Pablo’s first title since 2017 when she led Pocari Sweat to the Reinforced Conference title.
The two-time PVL Most Valuable Player registered 10 points in the Angels’ tight, 25-21, 27-25, 37-35 Game One win. Then she unloaded 17 points in the title-clinching 25-17, 22-25, 25-12, 25-22 Game Two win.
None of those, however, were more important than her last two points in the final match that helped Petro Gazz close off the HD Spikers.
Pablo deflected the credit to Angels head coach Rald Ricafort, who was constantly reminding her where to put the ball, especially in crucial times.
Which is naman, ‘yung binibigay niyang instructions, nakaka-puntos,” said Pablo.
