The Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) Group vows to provide a continuous supply of WiFi connection and electricity, especially in converted medical facilities serving novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease patients.
SMART Communications have already installed wifi connections to the community quarantine facilities.
Those sites are the Ninoy Aquino Stadium and the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, New Clark City in Tarlac, the Philippine International Convention Center, the World Trade Center, and the Philippine Army gymnasium in Taguig.
“This rollout is part of PLDT Smart’s commitment to equipping our frontliners with reliable connectivity and relevant digital tools to help them during this nationwide COVID-19 response,” Al Panlilio told the PBA’s official website PBA.ph.
Panlilio, the president of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and the team governor of the Meralco Bolts, is the president and chief executive officer of SMART. He is also the chief revenue officer of PLDT.
Meanwhile, PLDT Chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan said: “A major focus of our activities at PLDT and Smart this time is to arm frontliners in the fight against COVID-19 with strong connectivity and innovative digital tools.”
Pangilinan is the owner of PBA franchises TNT KaTropa, Meralco, and NLEX.
Meralco earlier partnered with corporate partners to shoulder the full cost of electricity to be incurred in select temporary quarantine facilities. It joined forces with San Miguel in sharing electricity expenses for PICC.
