MPL PH: Minana stays alive after completing sweep of Onic

Minana Evos kept their playoff hopes alive by securing a 2-0 sweep against Onic Philippines in the final week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Makati City on Saturday.

They finished the regular season with 19 points. Onic is currently in seventh place with 18 points, but a loss via a sweep at the hands of Smart Omega in their final season match would send Minana into the playoffs.

Game 1 came down to a 17th-minute lord fight, with Ken “Kzen” Pile (Baxia) securing the lord, followed by Lance Walter “LaceCyAR” Cunanan’s (Faramis) double kill. Minana then forced the issue during the ensuing base turret siege, with Jan “DomengAR” Delmundo’s (Ixia) Full Barrage leading to a 2-0 pick off to pull ahead, 1-0.

In Game 3, Jhon Marl “LordJM AR” Sebastian’s (X-Borg) Last Insanity initiation in the 11th minute sparked Minana to a pick off on Kennth “Nets” Barro (Bruno). With the gold laner out of the way and the lord on their side, Minana went all in during the 12th-minute siege to complete the sweep.

Onic, which finished the first half of the season in second place behind Echo, now faces a must-win situation in the final season match to secure the last ticket to the playoffs.
