MPL PH 9: RSG PH finally overcomes Nexplay

RSG PH snapped its four-game losing streak against Nexplay EVOS, taking a quick 2-0 sweep to open its MPL Philippines Season Nine campaign with a win, Saturday afternoon.

Since entering MPL Philippines last season, RSG PH has yet to win against the Nexplay franchise.

RSG PH dropped both of its regular season matchups in Season Seven before bowing out of the playoffs at the hands of the same team. The losing streak extended to four when NXPE booted out RSG PH in the lower bracket of the Sibol National Team Selection.

Timely rotations coming from Jeff “S4gitnu” Subang’s Ruby gave Nexplay EVOS the upper hand early in Game One. That lead, however, was short-lived as Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto’s Hayabusa led RSG PH to multiple skirmishes which allowed Eman “Emann” Sangco’s Beatrix to scale up.

RSG PH powered through from there, taking the next three Lords to secure the 1-0 lead in the series.

Emann had a neat 4-0-5 KDA line in the 14-10 Game One win in 17 minutes and 39 seconds while Demonkite tallied four kills, two deaths, and seven assists.

Come Game Two, RSG PH banked on Demonkite’s aggressiveness on Lancelot to prevent another early lead from Nexplay EVOS. RSG PH kept its lead from there and took the next three Lords — just like in Game One — to bag the series.

The 1-2 punch of Demonkite and Emann once again did the damage for RSG PH. The former had five kills, two deaths, and six assists while the latter had another immaculate line with four kills and four assists without a death in the 12-3 Game Two win in 17 minutes and three seconds.
