The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines is set to ignite the esports scene once again as it rolls out an array of exciting new innovations for its highly anticipated Season 14.
With fresh changes aimed at elevating the competition and engaging the community, this season is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling yet.
One of the most significant announcements is the introduction of the first-ever Global Open Transfer System.
This groundbreaking change allows teams to recruit players from across the entire Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports ecosystem, not just within MPL PH and MDL (Mobile Legends: Development League) teams.
This opens up a world of possibilities, as teams can now acquire talent from overseas mid-season, and free agents are also eligible under this new rule.
In addition to the transfer system, a new scoring system has been implemented to make the Regular Season more competitive.
While teams will still compete in best-of-three matches against the seven other teams in the league, the point system has been revamped.
Teams that secure a 2-0 victory will earn 2 points, while those who win 2-1 will receive 1 point.
However, teams that lose with scores of 1-2 or 0-2 will not earn any points, adding extra pressure to perform in every match.
The playoff structure has also seen an upgrade, with the lower bracket finals now being extended to a best-of-seven format, compared to the previous best-of-five setup. T
his change is expected to heighten the intensity and drama of the tournament’s final stages.
Another exciting update comes in the form of the Alamat Awards, which have been revamped to recognize not only players but also the coaching staff.
Starting this season, the entire coaching team will be honored for their leadership, strategic brilliance, and overall impact on their team’s performance.
New award categories have been introduced, including the ALL-STAR Team 1 and 2, the Fans’ Choice Award, and the Most Improved Player of the Season Award.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award has also been expanded, now being divided into three distinct categories: MVP of the Game, MVP of the Match, and MVP of the Week.
Adding to the excitement, MPL Philippines has partnered with Infinix to host the inaugural MPL Infinix FANSiklaban.
This unique event will see fans representing their favorite teams in a Mini-MPL League, creating an engaging onsite experience for the community.
The league’s commitment to community engagement continues with the return of the MPL Smart Battle Trips.
In collaboration with the MLBB Community Heroes and Student League (CHSL), the program will select 40 students from various MLBB communities in Luzon to watch the tournament live.
These students will also have the opportunity to attend workshops within the season, where they can explore various career paths in the esports industry.
MPL Philippines Season 14 is scheduled to kick off on August 16 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati, promising fans an unforgettable season filled with innovation, competition, and community spirit.
