Michelle Morente expressed her utmost gratitude to PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort for giving her the opportunity to comeback this 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
Morente, who last played for Army-Black Mamba in the 2022 Invitationals, found herself without a team in the season-ending Reinforced Conference last year.
She spent her time training with Creamline that time before eventually getting the call from the High Speed Hitters for the All-Filipino Conference.
“Gusto ko lang mag-thank you kay coach kasi yun yung pinaka inaantay ko.
“Yung may mag-tiwala sakin throughout the months. Very thankful ako kay coach Rald kasi binigyan niya ako ng chance ulit makabalik at mabigay yung laro ko and all,” said Morente.
On Tuesday night, the De La Salle University product fired 10 points to help PLDT dent Chery Tiggo’s perfect record via a 25-13, 25-22, 27-25 victory at the Philsports Arena.
Morente, who came off the bench in the team’s opening-day loss against F2 Logistics, has started the High Speed Hitters’ last two games which both resulted in wins.
Despite her impressive performances in the past week, the former Perlas standout is still not satisfied and believes that she needs to be more consistent for the High Speed Hitters moving forward.
She also vowed to help out PLDT in any way she can as they try to finally get over the hump this All-Filipino Conference.
“Onti pa, feeling ko kulang pa so onting push pa. Siguro be more consistent. Less errors syempre sino bang may gusto ng errors so feeling ko yun lang talaga, maging consistent lang and support sa team,” said Morente.
“Kung hindi ako makapuntos, nandun ako sa depensa kasi alam ko rin naman yung role ko sa loob ng court so kapag hindi ako makapuntos, okay lang basta likod akin. Kami ni Kath,” she added.
Morente tallied six points and 11 excellent digs in their loss to the Cargo Movers but followed it up with an eight-point performance in the win against Army-Black Mamba last Thursday.
