Quentin Millora-Brown is finally seeing his childhood dream come true.
The young big man is named part of Gilas Pilipinas’ 12-man lineup set to face Guam in Window 1 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.
He’ll be forming a solid frontcourt together with vets June Mar Fajardo and Japeth Aguilar, who could be playing his final games with the national team.
Also part of the squad is RJ Abarrientos, who’s making his first appearance with Gilas since the 2023 World Cup Asian Qualifiers, then under Chot Reyes.
Forward Carl Tamayo has been included as well, with head coach Tim Cone and the rest of the staff optimistic that his visa will get approved in time.
Justin Brownlee, CJ Perez, Scottie Thompson, Chris Newsome, Dwight Ramos, Kevin Quiambao, and the newlywed AJ Edu complete the ensemble.
“These are the 12 we’re going to war with,” the champion mentor said during Gilas’ sendoff presser at the Upper Deck Sports Center in Pasig, Monday.
Those cut, on the other hand, were Troy Rosario, Jamie Malonzo, and Juan Gomez de Lian,o although they remain a part of the program, Cone clarified.
“They were cut from the window today, but they were not cut from the program. They are pretty much part of the pool,” the veteran internationalist said.
The Philippines will take on Guam twice in this window, with their first meeting set this Friday at their foes’ own turf at the Calvo Fieldhouse in Yigo Village.
The team from Oceania will then fly to Manila for the rematch scheduled on Monday, December 1, at the refurbished Blue Eagle Gym in Katipunan.
