Matt Aquino sits as Shinshu evens slate in B.League


Matt Aquino is proving himself a lucky charm for Shinshu.

The Brave Warriors scored their most impressive win in the 2021-22 B.League season so far, routing Osaka, 95-79, Sunday at Ookini Arena Maishima.

Shinshu raised its slate to an even 4-4 after sweeping its Week Four assignments. Meanwhile, Osaka fell to 4-4.

The Brave Warriors saw all of their starting five score in double-digits with Anthony McHenry going a perfect 8-of-8 from the field for 21 points. He also grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out five assists, stole the ball twice, and had a swat.

Yuta Okada also had 21 points built on four treys while Ko Kumagai also had 21 points.

The Brave Warriors relied on a huge 28-point third canto that turned a 12-point deficit to a 64-58 lead heading into the final frame.

The lead would grow to as much as 17 points, 88-71.

DJ Newbill led Osaka anew with 16 points. Perry Ellis and Ira Brown got 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Aquino and Shinshu will next face Hokkaido on Wednesday at the Kotobuki Arena Chikuma.
