The San Miguel Beermen — and possibly Gilas Pilipinas — will be without Marcio Lassiter for several weeks, as the Fil-Am sharpshooter got diagnosed with a grade two MCL sprain in his left knee.
Reports of the unfortunate news came out Thursday afternoon.
Lassiter incurred the injury Wednesday, during the Beermen’s 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal rubber match versus the NorthPort Batang Pier in which they won, 90-88.
With 3:22 remaining in the second quarter, the veteran wingman landed awkwardly after blocking Garvo Lanete’s lay-up. Lassiter was then subbed out immediately and never returned.
Lassiter exited with 11 points on three triples, three rebounds, and two assists. He then left the Araneta Coliseum during the third quarter and went straight to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
The injury will put Lassiter out for at least six weeks, meaning he will be out for the rest of the conference as well as in the FIBA World Cup in China set from August 31 to September 15.
