Assessment
Mapua has been going through rough times over the past years. Atoy Co has tried his best to squeeze whatever he can out of his wards in a severely depleted team when he took over.

However, Co’s squad finally gets the help it sorely needs on the offensive and rebounding side of things with the return of former NCAA Rookie of the Year Josan Nimes, who was on leave from the team for two years, and Mark Braña, who will bolster the frontline after Jessie Saitanan has used up his eligibility. The two look to help returning leading scorer CJ Isit (12.0ppg) get more wins this season.

While Nimes flashes all the things that made him a soon-to-be-star, Co should be happy they even go past five wins at all even with Allwell Oraeme on deck. In the Premiere Cup, Oraeme was huge in averaging 13.9 points (tournament high: 27), 19.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.8 blocks per game. Those numbers gave him the monstrous statistical points in the Premiere Cup.

But there’s only so much one man can do and you can ask LeBron about it.

“Mapua is the underdog in recruitment. We have our new recruits, pretty exciting, and comebacking, experienced players like Nimes. Also, sophomores who only gained experience and exposure last year. Just like what coach Topex said, we have to focus on on what we do to be competitive”
