Mangahis flaunts all-around game, lifts UE past NU in UAAP Boys’ Volleyball


John Paul Mangahis flashed his all-around game as the University of the East stretched their winning run to three after clobbering titleholders National University-Nazareth School, 25-20, 25-23, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 82 Boys’ Volleyball Tournament at Paco Arena Wednesday.

Mangahis, finished with 11 points, 10 excellent receptions and seven digs to power the Junior Warriors to their seventh victory in eight matches.

“Although meron akong players na may iniinda, nagawa pa rin naman nila ‘yung roles nila, nagma-mature na yung mga players ko sa paglalaro,” said UE coach Raffy Mosuela.

Joshua Espenida also shone for the Junior Warriors with 10 points on eight spikes and two service aces.

UE started the third set on a furious 15-5 blast to pull away for good.

Michael Fortuna and Arvin Bandola poured in 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Bullpups.

NU slid to 4-5 for fifth place.

Three boys’ volleyball games are slated on Saturday at the same Paco venue.
