Malia Bambrick banners Gilas Women for Jones Cup


Malia Bambrick will finally make her much-anticipated Gilas Pilipinas Women debut in the 2023 William Jones Cup.

The 5-foot-10 guard out of Pepperdine University was named to the Final 12 of the team that will compete in the tournament which takes place from August 12 to 20 in Taiwan.

Bambrick is the fourth all-time in three-points made in Wave history with 165 made in her four-year career there.

Also joining Bambrick are returning Fil-Ams Stefanie Berberabe and Gabi Bade.

Making her Gilas Women debut as well is Ateneo big man Kacey Dela Rosa.

Completing Patrick Aquino’s squad are returning players Jack Animam, Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos, Andrea Tongco, Sofia Roman, Jhazmin Joson, Louna Ozar, and Monique Del Carmen.

Gilas Women will face two Chinese-Taipei teams, Iran, and clubs from South Korea and Japan.

The Philippines is looking to end its six-game skid in the pocket tournament.
