In the second set, the Lady Dolphins created so many errors that helped the Lady Sailors hold a comfortable lead. Mabbayad continued to lead Navy’s offense to gave them a 24-19 advantage but the Lady Sailors committed errors that help Coast Guard close the gap at 24-23, luckily for Navy, setter Janet Serafica found a hole in the Coast Guard floor defense to save the set for the Lady Sailors.
Meanwhile, in the third set, Pau Soriano scored two straight points to give the Lady Sailors a 15-13 lead in the error plagued third set. After the game Philippine Navy Head Coach Zenaida Chavez mentioned how proud he was that the team won, but she said the team needed to improved its floor defense as they face tougher opponents in their next assignments.
“Sobrang proud akong nanalo ang team pero kailangan namin i-improve ang floor defense, lalo mga malalakas ang kalaban namin sa susunod kaya kailangan pagtibayin,” Chavez said.
Mabbayad scored 18 points, 15 coming from attacks while Soriano chipped 11markers and Serafica tossed 34 excellent sets for the Lady Sailors.
