Ateneo de Manila University is preparing to enter a new era in UAAP Season 88 as co-captains Lyann De Guzman and AC Miner bid farewell to the Blue Eagles.
Both seniors have decided to forgo their final year of eligibility to enter the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Draft, scheduled for June 8.
De Guzman and Miner made the announcement on One Sports’ Starting Lineup on Thursday evening.
“Nasabi ko rin naman sa kanila na I’ll go na sa next chapter ko,” said De Guzman.
“I’m really happy to be an Atenean. I’m very proud to be an Atenean. To the Ateneo community, sobrang thank you talaga sa suporta. We really appreciate it, as in sobra.”
“Actually, for me, I’ll be happy to cheer them [Ateneo] on from the sidelines this year,” Miner added.
The duo informed the school of their decision as early as May 9.
Ateneo athletics director Em Fernandez confirmed that both players have completed their degrees in AB Interdisciplinary Studies.
Before joining Ateneo in UAAP Season 84, De Guzman and Miner were standouts from the Far Eastern University-Diliman program.
