Despite getting multiple offers to go pro, Louie Romero has opted to settle some unfinished business with Adamson University.
The 22-year-old setter out of Bacolod announced on Monday that she would return for one more go-around with the Lady Falcons for the UAAP Season 86 tournament.
Akari Sports made the announcement.
“Hindi pwede pag-isipan ng matagal kasi paano kung mag pro na ako? E ‘di nagsayang ako ng oras ng coaches ko na sana nagamit nila to work with teammates ko na setters,” said the 5-foot-3 product of Kings Montessori.
“Isang malaki at malakas na yes, iisa pa ako. Hashtag walang iwanan kami ng buong team.”
Romero was the top setter in UAAP Season 86, tossing an average of 4.96 excellent sets per set.
However, out of all the top setters in the league, she lagged behind in service efficiency and digs, placing her in just third place in the Best Setter race.
Still, Romero was able to steer Adamson to its first Final Four appearance in nine years.
With an intact lineup and a bunch of rookies coming in, Romero is looking forward to leading the Lady Falcons to at least a finals appearance come 2024.
“Alam ko matagal pa ang season but the work starts now,” Romero said.
“Training, off-season tournaments, kilalanin pa lalo ang isa’t isa. It’s hard work pero para sa goal namin, naniniwala ako na kaya.”
