Phoenix Pulse head coach Louie Alas and his staff are now hunting for a new court general for the Fuel Masters.
That’s what the seasoned mentor revealed just moments after the Fuel Masters defeated the NorthPort Batang Pier, 97-87, to return to the winning column of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday.
“We’re looking for isang point guard… Kung makakakuha kami sa free agency. Hopefully,” said Alas.
For Alas, this search is to help ease the load of the likes of RJ Jazul and Alex Mallari – combo guards who are filling in the point guard position given the unfortunate situation of LA Revilla.
“Bugbog yung mga guards ko kasi ang natitira kong guards hindi point guard – parehong combo, si RJ and Mallari. LA will be out for the conference,” said the second-year Phoenix chief mentor.
Asked if he has somebody in mind, Alas said yes but he did not name names. He did admit that their prospect currently plays in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
“Mayroon, pero may team sa MPBL. Sana sana, subukan naming offer-an ng per conference.”
Some of the current ex-PBA guards having field days in the MPBL are Mac Tallo, Mark Cruz, Pamboy Raymundo, and Jeff Viernes.
